Allow us to introduce you to the talented Madi Williamson, who is the CEO & a founder of MAKEUP WITH MADI enterprise based in Troy Missouri, USA. For Madi, being a makeup artist is one the best jobs in the world because she gets to travel while making her client feel beautiful and confident.

Last month, in search for founders with unique platforms, we spotted Madi response to our ad. Immediately, we checked out her makeup business page. Our first reaction was like wow! She is indeed THE SMOKEY EYES MASTER. We are super happy to bring Madi Williamson full exclusive interview to you all. Please Madi, tell us about yourself?

I’m Madi Williamson, a traveling makeup artist located in Missouri. I’m working my dream job making women look and feel not only beautiful but confident!

How would you describe the work you do?

Being a makeup artist is one of the best jobs, I get the opportunity to work with so many beautiful people. I do makeup for all types of events such as bridal, special occasions, and film. Each day I get to work with a new face. As a makeup artist you learn something new everyday, each person has different facial features, tones, and styles. You need to learn how to adapt so you can create the exact look your client is looking for. With trending consistently changing the learning never ends but that’s part of the fun!

Take us through a day in your life as a female entrepreneur.

I wake up, make my morning coffee as I respond to business emails and potential clients. Then I get ready, I do my hair and makeup snap some pictures of my makeup for social media and pick an outfit. Then I check out my calendar and make a todo list for the day. After getting ready, I work a lot on my computer making ads for upcoming specials, forms for clients, updating my website, schedule Facebook posts, and other promotional things. If I have clients that date I will send out a reminder an hour before the appointment and prepare for them by making sure my beauty studio is clean or packing up my travel case when traveling to them.

I take an hour or two out of my day to brainstorm on how to continue to better myself and my business. Make some lunch then head to the gym. After the gym I get my shopping out of the way I’m constantly buy more makeup and tools for my kit, you can never have enough. When I get back home I respond to emails and messages, make some posts on Instagram and Facebook, and message clients back. Some days when I have time I will do another makeup look to make sure I have enough content for the weekend if I have big wedding parties coming up. Each day is a little different depending on if I have business meetings and appointments but each day consists of a lot of emails, responding to clients, and promoting Makeup with Madi.

What is the inspiration behind your enterprise “ Makeup with Madi” ?

I’ve always loved makeup. To me it’s so much more than just makeup it’s a form of art. Each day I get to create something new on a new canvas (face). Standing back looking at the work I did is great but the moment the client looks into the mirror and they tell me they feel so beautiful and confident that’s my inspiration making women feel and look their best. That in its self is so rewarding.

How do you balance your entrepreneur life with friends that don’t understand the challenges you experience?

Being an entrepreneur comes with many challenges. Most of the challenges I face are behind the scenes. One of my main challenges is don’t have days off. When a client messages me I have to respond in a timely manor even if I’m out with friends. I do my best to get all my work done before going out with friends. Luckily most of my friends are understanding.

As an entrepreneur what are some of your most memorable experience(s) you had working at as makeup artist?

Some of the most memorable experiences I’ve had working as a makeup artist would have to be all the weddings I’ve done. You get the opportunity to watch the bride get ready for her big day. It is so beautiful to watch someone so in love get ready to walk down the aisle to their happily ever after.

What characteristics must a makeup artist possess?

As a makeup artist you must be creative, punctual, be able to focus under pressure, pay attention to detail, have people skills, be friendly and outgoing, informed on the latest trends, and strive to always practice and continue learning.

What advice you give to young entrepreneurs who are contemplating following in your footsteps?

Life lives outside of your comfort zone, if you are thinking of becoming a makeup artist take the leap even if it scares you. Alway believe in yourself and in your work. Make sure you take time to think about your goals and know your why. Strive to always better yourself and never stop practicing. It’s not always easy, and it’s a lot of hard work but if you love what you do it will all be worth it!

What can we expect from you in the next 2 years or so?

In the next two years, my makeup brand will be in the works. I also plan to open up my own beauty studio. I plan to open up a studio because I’m going to be expanding Makeup with Madi and start doing facials and eyelash extensions. I plan to continue growing as an artist and always push myself to be better. I have so many big plans I can’t wait as the next few years unfold!

Who are other talented models, designer or makeup brands you would hope to collaborate with?

I would absolutely love to collaborate with a few different makeup brands one major makeup brand would be Morphe. Morphe has high end quality products at drugstore prices.
