LIFE OF YOUNG WOMEN OR MOTHERS IN ALEL YIROL

Amiir Thon shared her challenging journey, growing up in Yirol during wartime, getting married amidst war, and the difficulties faced during this period.

Life in Yirol hasn't been easy in the last three years. The scarcity of rainfall has severely affected cultivation, upon which their livelihoods depend. The primary crops grown are wheat and groundnuts. However, the limited produce is often destroyed by pests, leading to food shortages and starvation.

Access to clean water is also a significant issue. The village has a few boreholes, some of which are not functional, forcing the community to travel long distances to secure water.

WOMEN HEALTH IN VILLAGE!

The healthcare situation is dire. In Alel village, there's a lack of hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, doctors,  gynecologists, nurses, or midwives for maternal checkups or childbirth. Pregnant women have to journey to Yirol town to see a doctor but return to the village for childbirth. After delivery, there's a scarcity of prescribed medications, sanitary pads, and essential items for the mother and baby. Clean water for bathing is also unavailable, leading to the use of ash for cleansing during delivery.

Furthermore, children have limited access to vaccines for diseases such as polio and measles.

They grow up without essential vaccinations. During menstruation, females lack access to sanitary pads and are often uninformed about necessary products for such periods, resorting to using unsuitable substitutes like petticoats and panties.

HYGIENE & PERIODS:

Basic hygiene products like detergent, essential for childbirth and menstruation, are unavailable. Schools in the area are constructed with iron sheets, some of which have lost their roofs due to the wind. This makes studying inconvenient. There's a shortage of teachers, and students lack uniforms, books, and necessary educational materials.

The absence of shops within the village further complicates the situation, with the nearest shop being kilometres away, making it a walkable distance of one and a half hours.

The prevailing hunger has immobilized many, leaving them indoors due to a lack of energy caused by insufficient food. This scarcity even affects their ability to carry out daily activities, including their marital responsibilities.

Hygiene Products

Hygiene Products & School Supplies

Cost: $10,000 + USD

Ensuring the availability of female hygiene products is a vital aspect of our project, promoting health and well-being among women in the community.

We aim to generate a minimum of $25,000 to $50,000 USD in donations to facilitate the acquisition and establishment of a crucial machine and transportation system. Additionally, we aspire to supply essential items to village security guards, including children's clothing, school supplies, and female hygiene products.

Your support will contribute significantly to enhancing the overall well-being of the community. The funds raised will not only aid in the purchase and setup of the essential machine and transportation system but will also enable us to address pressing needs such as providing security personnel with necessary resources. Moreover, our initiative extends to supporting children by providing them with clothing and school supplies, fostering a conducive environment for their education.

Ensuring the availability of female hygiene products is a vital aspect of our project, promoting health and well-being among women in the community. Your generous contributions will play a pivotal role in creating a positive impact and uplifting the lives of those in need.
