Tell us about yourself ( short intro)?

My name is Bukola Adeosun and I am in my twenties. I work as a clinical research coordinator, besides science I love sewing and cooking.

When did you start model? And who inspired your modelling career?

I started modelling in college, I joined Black Students Union on campus and some of my friends on the board advised me to audition. Then I only wore wedges and knew nothing about runway or poses. But I love fashion so I decided to tryout, at the tryout I was advised to watch runway videos. I learned how to “smize” (smile with your eyes) from Tyra banks and fierceness from Naomi Campbell. After that I fell in love with runway but I soon noticed that having thick thigh or curves makes you a less likely candidate for runway. To be very honest I was discouraged many times because who were mediocre models will get picked because they are size 00 or 0. However as a black woman in the lyrics of Jamila woods “Black girl magic”

“She don't don't don't don't don't give up

No no no no no

She don't give up”

We know you are also a medical student ( Clinical Searcher). You are truly a definition of beauty and brian. How do you manage fashion life & medical school life?

I am actually not in medical school, a lot of people think I am a doctor because I do blood draws, screen patients for research studies etc. I am hoping to get my doctorate degree (PhD). not sure in what exactly but I know it will be health equity related. The reason I wanted to be a doctor was to help people have better access to healthcare. However over the years when I had to opportunity to go on mission trips I learned that there are so many more ways to achieve that goal. I believe that if people who care are at the helm of affairs, policies can be made to protect and help those who cannot afford quality healthcare.

What is the inspiration behind your latest editorial?

Being strong and beautiful. The body of a black woman is often sexualized in the media and I just wanted to portray strength, royalty, beauty and creativity (I made my outfit and my friend @oreo_luwa made my hair). Often we say “I am a strong black woman” but you hardly ever have visual representation of that on social media. Serena Williams is one of the greatest athletes of our time; strong, beautiful and so much more but is often chastised and let's not talk about how often she is harassed as a professional tennis player. I think it subconsciously states “hide your strength” but since the release of Black Panther I found myself loving my strength and appreciating my body.

You have been featured in countless editorials and fashion shows. Which one(s) of the feature would consider your top favorite.

I would say the DC fashion week, our spring/summer collections 2019 show is next month September 19th - 23rd 2018. See you there.

What is ( are) your most memorable moments from fashion shows you have been too?

When I hit the stage I literally become the embodiment of what the designers want to portray. I love that I can be chic, edgy and royal just by wearing different designers clothes.

For young ladies that would love to follow your footstep. What advice would you give them?.

Don't give up! Love yourself, sometimes you won't be picked by designers that does not mean you are not good enough. Always put your best foot forward. You are beautiful, worth it and you have so much to offer. Don't forget that.

What is your go to fashion tip?

Whatever you wear, rock it with confidence. If you have seen my social media you know i have rocked purple hair with colorful dresses, white wigs and more. Not everyone will love it but they will remember it and others will copy. Don't stress yourself trying to be like everyone else because you are original.

Are you currently working in any big project or campaign?

Right now I am volunteering with NewWave Foundation, a nonprofit organisation that partners with those who share their passion for education, healthcare and social innovation. Fashionwise, i am currently not in any big project or campaign but i am interested in working with brands.

What is your favourite (s) runway experience(s) and why?

My favorite runway experience was my first runway experience. Back in 2014 when I was in college. I was overly excited and the designers had clothes for people with curves. It was so much fun!

What can we expect from you in the next 2 years or so?

Honestly, whatever God wants me is where i would be in 2 years. So art, advocacy, positive vibes and definitely fashion.

Who are other talented designers or stylist you would hope to collaborate with?

I would love to collaborate with Gucci, Adidas, Calvin Klein and Versace. Thank you so much for this opportunity.

You are most welcome! It as a great pleasure interviewing you today and having you as our special guest feature this week. If you happen to Toronto or London UK we would love to have you in our fashion associate Lexynelle Reveur Brand as feature model.
