Tell us about yourself

I am Barry Szeto, born and raised in the city of Vancouver, B.C. After performing in local talent show moved to Toronto to start my professional music career. My music career took off when I debut single This is our night was released and played on “Much Music,” which led to performing shows around Toronto and the United States. I have opened for international pop stars such as Arash, Karl Wolf, Mia Martina, and Quest Crew, also known as “America’s Best Dance Crew” champions. My club banger hits include “Come Back to Me” and “Bad Girl” that was performed on CBC’s “Dragon’s Den.” My single Two Seconds which has an old-school R&B vibe, was just released and I am currently working on my new album. I am aspired to continue to expand on different vocal stylings and genres as a diverse pop artist.

What is the inspiration behind your latest single ? Where can you listen to it?

There's a touch of 90's and early 2000's R&B vibe as I believe that's one of the best era's for R&B. My single "Two Seconds" can be heard on all streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. My Spotify link is click here.

How would you describe your Music style?

I am primarily a pop artist but I have been immersed in such diversity that I like to add differently elements to my music. I'd like to say there's a fushion of R&B, Soul, and Acoustic.

Who inspired your music career?

Growing up Ive listened to a lot of Chinese pop in my household and then Hip Hop, R&B became my first love. My biggest influences varies from Stevie Wonder, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Musiq Soulchild, Chris Brown, Christina Aguilera, to name a few.

Who are your biggest influences in the music right now ?

I'm always on the hunt for new music but currently I love listening to Ella Mai, Khalid, Bazzi, Billie Eilish, to name a few.

What do you think is the best strategy that worked well for you as artist stay authentic with your craft?

It took a while for me, but writing about real life experiences have really helped me tap into my deepest feelings. There's nothing like writing from the heart. Nothing.

You are talented artist, which song(s) have you written is (are) your favorite and why ?

I have several songs that I have written but my top favorites are my current single "Two Seconds" which was inspired by a break up and how it made me feel. My other is an unreleased song called 'Forever" that is about losing someone close to your heart.

What is (are) your most memorable moment (s) as a artist thus far and why?

Every event is a blessing but some of the major highlights were opening for Karl Wolf and making my debut performance in America.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out their music career and hoping to make it in the industry?

My advice is to be prepared to finance your career whether it's recording, promotion, etc. No one is going to do it for you. Find your niche and work with that.

What can we expect from you in the next 2 years or so?

I will definitely be putting out more music and I am working on performing and hopefully releasing a full-length album and touring.

Who are other talented singers, songwriters, fashion stylist you would hope to collaborate with?

I'm a huge DJ Mustard and DJ Khaled fan so I'd love to collaborate on a song with either of them. In fashion, I really enjoy Ashley Weston who styled Chadwick Boseman and Toronto designer Xian who I've met at Toronto Men's Fashion Week.

That's an impressive list you got Barry Szeto. Thank you for taking time of your busy schedule to be our guest feature this morning on NEECEE LEXY blog. We wish you all the best on your upcoming album release and projects. Feel free to reach us back with update anytime. We look forward in featuring you album news on our upcoming Magazine release.
